The cycleof a machineis setin the axis.
Linear units, gantries and vertical axes for assembly and test systems. Four series, nine frame sizes, every single axis measured before it ships.

LX-120Sizing
Do the maths with us.
The cycle time of an axis rests on three quantities: distance, acceleration and top speed. Over short distances the top speed is never reached, and acceleration alone decides. Move the stroke and watch where that boundary lies.
- Time per move
- —
- speed reached
- —
SpeedTrapezoidal profile with a constant section in the middle.
Time
Trapezoidal profile without jerk limiting, plus the settling time of the series.
1 mThe travel of a mid-sized gantry axis.
100 mmThe width of a hand. That is how far the carriage moves between two stations.
1 mmRoughly the thickness of a credit card.
0.002 mmThe repeatability of the LD. A human hair is thirty-five times thicker.
Accuracy
Two thousandths.
Repeatability is a number nobody can picture. So here is the same detail in four jumps, from the travel to the tolerance. The last jump is the big one: from one millimetre to two thousandths is a factor of five hundred.
This is not measured at the motor but at the carriage. An optical scale lies in the profile slot and closes the control loop behind everything that could stretch.
Series
Four drive types, nine frame sizes.
Each type solves a different problem. The table shows where the limits are.

Applications
Where the axes work.
Three machines, three different reasons why the sizing came out other than expected.
Manufacturing
Eighty-two per cent is made in house.
Profiles, guide faces, head pieces and carriages we make ourselves. Motors, rolling elements and seals are bought in. That decides how quickly we can deliver a special length, and it decides who is liable when a dimension is wrong.

Two things belong to Edition Custom that appear on no page: an editing system and a measurement concept. Both are built in here as a demonstration.
Every heading and paragraph on this page is a field. Click a field below and change it. The page changes with it immediately.

From the measurement concept: which page brings enquiries and which is only visited. The figures below are example values and come from no real measurement.
